The Atkins Diet is a popular “low-carb” weight reduction program, but it is often greatly misunderstood! Common, yet slightly exaggerated depictions of the plan portray dieters devouring nothing but vast amounts of meat and fat. Although the program is not quite that simple, many dieters under the program have successfully lost weight and improved their health.
On this plan, dieters follow a highly specific regimen based on cutting carbohydrate intake. The nutritional aspects of the plan are emphasized over exercise and other factors, although getting physical activity is encouraged. There are four phases in the Atkins plan:
Induction: During this two-week stage at the start of the diet program, dieters can only have up to 20 grams of carbs per day. Dieters can ingest high protein foods such as meat and poultry, fats such as butter and oils, and other food with little to no carbohydrate content. Many foods with carbs are not permitted at all, including alcoholic beverages.
This initial phase is intended to help the body switch from burning carbs for energy, as it usually does, into burning stored up fat (the state called ketosis). Most dieters begin to lose weight during this stage.
Ongoing Weight Loss: During this stage, dieters gradually increase their carbohydrate consumption by adding 5 grams of carbs into their diet every week. Dieters fine-tune their diet, losing weight to put themselves within 5-10 pounds of their goal weight, before moving into the Pre-maintenance phase.
Pre-maintenance: Dieters use the Pre-maintenance phase to find out the maximum amount of carbs they can ingest without experiencing weight gain. During this stage, dieters add 10 grams of carbohydrates to their diet each week. Once dieters reach their target weight and can maintain it for one month, they move into the Lifetime Maintenance stage.
Lifetime Maintenance: For lasting results, the Atkins program is designed to be maintained throughout the dieter’s lifetime. Using the strategies that helped the dieter reach their goal weight, the dieter develops an eating and exercise program to stay at their target weight. Individuals can revert to previous stages if they ever begin to regain weight.
Dieters who can commit to the Atkins diet are typically successful in losing weight; however, many people are unable to keep following the program and end up quitting early on in the initial induction stage. In general, most diet plans fail because dieters cannot stay committed to the plan.
Many people struggle with dieting because they experience strong food cravings, have problems with compulsive overeating, cannot control their appetites, or simply lack the motivation to lose weight. Overcoming these mental obstacles is the most challenging aspect of losing weight.
One reason why many people cannot seem to manage their eating is because they are emotional eaters. Such people eat in response to their feelings, such as when they are bored or upset. However, this habit programs a “conditioned response” into the unconscious mind. This means that when individuals experience the same emotion that made them overeat initially, they will feel compelled to overeat again and again.
Hypnotherapy works by helping our unconscious minds disassociate our emotions from our eating habits. To eliminate the conditioned response to overeat, a hypnotherapy weight loss program is used to break the association in the unconscious mind between overeating and specific “trigger” situations.
For example, if you tend to binge eat when you feel bored, hypnosis can disassociate boredom from eating in your unconscious mind. Hypnosis can then be used to replace the overeating response with another activity, such as exercising. That way, the next time you suffer from boredom, instead of having an urge to overeat, you will feel motivated to engage in physical activity.
Hypnosis is an excellent tool for stress relief as well, helping us cope with our stressful feelings and relieve tension without eating. As a relaxation tool, it calms the mind, helps you develop strategies to cope with stress, and boosts your self confidence to promote natural weight loss.
Self hypnosis can also be used to remove the emotional stressors that keep you from losing weight. Many overweight people use their weight for emotional protection. For example, after a painful end to a relationship, people might find themselves becoming overweight so they can avoid relationships and avoid having to endure emotional pain again. Through hypnosis, we can turn our negative thoughts into positive ones and focus on improving our health instead of becoming overwhelmed by our emotions.
Not only is hypnosis a powerful motivation tool, it relieves stress, extinguishes the conditioned responses that trigger overeating, and can help you overcome the mental obstacles that prevent weight loss. Hypnotherapy for weight loss is really effective at helping people stay on a diet plan, such as the Atkins plan, and lose weight.

I read an article in the UK press a little while ago which referred to a rather unusual use of hypnosis in the area of weight loss. Most people who have used weight loss hypnosis will be aware that the most usual type of suggestion centers around the changing of habits – eating more slowly, only eating when seated at a meal table, etc – with additional suggestions aimed at altering taste preferences and motivation to exercise. This, broadly speaking, is what we are used to in terms of successful weight loss hypnosis.

This article referred to something quite different, although clearly equally effective. The subject was given suggestions not to feel less hungry or to change habits, but instead to believe that they had undergone surgery; to believe that their stomach size had been reduced with the insertion of what is called the “gastric band”, so that effectively their stomach size had been reduced and that they could now only eat small meals. They could simply not eat too much – it is impossible after this type of intervention.

Although the type of suggestion is very different, the result is the same. The subject ate less at meal times and lost weight very effectively. I was not at all surprised at the effectiveness of this suggestion, and was pleased to see that the hypnotherapist in question had adapted the suggestion to suit the clients mind set and had not simply made a “standard” set of suggestions. It is important in everything in life to “think outside the box”.

Everyone after all comes to therapy with their own unique beliefs and expectations. There is a definite trend towards abrogating responsibility for ones weight gain and desired weight loss. As a community there is a tendency to make justification for weight gain and then to look for an easy answer when one feels “fat”. Far more people turn to surgery these days than ever before. And the medical profession answers this “need” by creating ever more diverse types of surgical interventions.

One who is overweight tends to first try dieting. These diets are too numerous to cite here, and most people try a good number of them, and sometimes make several attempts at each one. The next step tends to be pills. Again, there are dozens of different weight loss pills, and most people try one or two brands, possibly more, before giving up once again. Then there are the meal replacement systems. And then there are the companies which will provide individually calorie counted meals for you. And then there is surgery, including the gastric band.

It seems to me that the majority of people are disillusioned with “dieting” and just go looking for an easier option. Not only do we look for an easy option, we want to see results today, we want to be slim and healthy RIGHT NOW! We haven’t got time to diet, and we’ve come to believe that diets don’t work, or that they are too difficult. It’s easier to go for surgery and have a gastric band operation and then we just cannot eat too much – it’s impossible. And we don’t have to do anything at all ourselves about our weight. The surgeon is going to do it for us. We have, as I said before, abrogated responsibility, for our dietary choices and resulting weight gain.

Reverting to the recent novel application of hypnotherapy for successful weight loss, the therapist managed to work within the mind set of their client. This client did not want to have to “work” at dieting; they just wanted to know that they could not eat very much at any meal. The therapist found a way to do this which the client could relate to, could visualize and imagine. This is the key not only to successful hypnotic suggestion, but also to success at anything in life. The ability to visualize and imagine the end result that you want to achieve is vital to achievement and accomplishment.

Hypnosis is what makes that visualization more effective and allows change to happen more quickly than it would without hypnosis. This is because hypnosis allows access to your subconscious mind, the part which controls instinctive behaviors, beliefs and expectations. When in hypnosis your creative mind is more readily available and your power to visualize is enhanced. The right type of suggestion, combined with vivid visualization is a “heady” combination allowing easy and effective change.

If only everyone knew and appreciated the wonderful power of hypnosis, they would not be seeking surgery as a short cut to effective weight loss; they would instead be seeking the help of hypnosis downloads to allow them to unlock the power of their own mind.

Unfortunately, in this present time and day more and more people are becoming overweight and obesity too has become a major problem that society has to grapple with. In the battle to overcome obesity, many different solutions have been thrown up with some being very successful in battling obesity while others have not been able to do much. It makes one wonder whether there is any truth to hypnosis weight loss.
Heavier US Population
At present, it seems that the population in the US is by and large about twenty-five pounds heavier than they were in the year 1960, and this has made the medical fraternity sit up and take another look at how to battle this problem. On the other hand, the population is turning to using pills, strict diets and a magic bullet to combat their excessive body weight problems.
Many more people have however begun considering hypnosis weight loss to be a way out for their weight related problems, and among those who are promoting hypnosis weight loss are some very well known movie stars and other celebrities that vouchsafe to the effectiveness of hypnosis as a means to lose weight. Even the average person has found some benefits to trying out hypnosis weight loss.
For those who don’t know anything about hypnosis weight loss, it is time that they became better educated on the topic. Gone are the days when people equated hypnosis with a Vega styled stage show in which hypnotists were seen doing crazy things with the audience and in fact hypnosis in that form was more to entertain that to solve serious problems.
Through practice of hypnosis a person is able to allow their minds and body to become extremely relaxed and they will also lose awareness of their immediate surroundings. Once in a state of hypnosis, a person can be made to do anything including controlling their emotions and also their physical state of being. It is thus possible that hypnosis weight loss is achievable and people can indeed benefit from trying out this form of treatment.
In case the traditional and tried and tested ways of losing weight have not worked for you, then it is time that you tried out alternative solutions such as lose weight hypnosis methods.
For hypnosis weight loss to work for you, you must first of all make a solid commitment to shedding excess weight. In fact, hypnosis weight loss will only work if you are serious about making a concerted effort to shed unwanted pounds. If you have had it with trying magic pills or strict diets, then there is really nothing to be lost in trying out hypnosis weight loss.
Hypnosis Therapy On Weight Loss
Hypnosis therapy (hypnotherapy) has been said to be of much help to those who have problems losing weight. Because hypnosis targets the subconscious part of your brain, all the things stored in it are being brought to the conscious part of the mind where resolution of the crisis takes place. The first key in losing weight is accepting that you are experiencing weight problems. If you are aware of your problems, then fixing it would become a lot easier. After which, hypnotherapy would focus in motivating you so you can perform the measures needed to make you shed some extra pounds off.
